  • SUPPORT REASONABLE AMERICAN CONTENT STANDARDS AND DOMESTIC PROCUREMENT,

3/14/2019 NW Request Waiver for 2019 Council Rep Election (Tony Hickerson - Previous LOA 2018-2019) It is moved that: THE SPEEA COUNCIL WAIVES the continuous membership requirements to hold office per both the SPEEA Constitution and SPEEA By-Laws Sections 2.3.2 for Tony Hickerson resulting from interruptions in his services as a T-10 Council Representative as a consequence of his no-fault incident.

6/7/2019 SPEEA Building relationships between motorists and bicyclists

It is moved that: SPEEA supports healthy relationships between motorists and bicyclists.

6/7/2019 SPEEA SPEEA Code of Conduct It is moved that: the SPEEA COUNCIL approves incorporating the SPEEA Code of Conduct into the SPEEA Policy and Procedure Manual.
6/7/2019 SPEEA Organizing Support It is moved that: the SPEEA COUNCIL approves waiving dues for members of newly organized bargaining units until three months after ratification of their first contract. These members shall be considered “Regular Members” during this time period. This waiver shall not last longer than two years from the date of bargaining unit certification.
7/11/2019 NW Support United Food and Commercial Workers Local 21 and 367 and Teamsters Local 38 in negotiations with grocery stores

It is moved that: the NW SPEEA Council supports UFCW Local 21, UFCW Local 367, and Teamsters Local 38 and others in the struggle for fair contracts at Washington state grocery stores. The NW Council urges our members to support the union workers during negotiations and informational picketing. Also if they are forced to go out on strike.

It is further moved that the Northwest Council requests the SPEEA Executive Board grant up to $3000.00 to the locals involved should a strike happen at the grocery stores.

The NW council requests the SPEEA E Board to distribute the money in the best way for the workers on strike.

7/11/2019 NW Waiver for 2019 Council Rep Election It is moved: The NW Council waives the continuous membership requirements to hold office as a Council Representative per SPEEA Constitution section 2.3.2 & SPEEA Bylaws section 2.3.2 for Tami Reichersamer due to the break in her membership caused by her leave of absence in 2018.
8/8/2019 NW Northwest Governing Documents Committee review NW19-022 It is moved that: the Northwest Governing Documents Committee report back to the Northwest Regional Council concerning NW19-022 at the November 2019 Northwest Regional Council Meeting.
9/12/2019 NW NW Council add Safety and Wellness Committee

It is moved: That the SPEEA NW Council approve the creation of a dedicated standing NW Safety and Wellness Committee as outlined below.

Charter

The NW Safety and Wellness committee is responsible to:

  • Support appropriate safety policies, procedures and instructions, as well as recommend improvements to underlining safety policies and procedures, as needed.
  • Work with the companies to create a safety partnership to help identify, report and resolve safety concerns.
  • Provide NW staff CA’s, CR’s and AR’s with appropriate safety training to better understand, assist members with their safety questions and concerns and report ongoing workplace safety issues to the NW safety and wellness committee.
  • Provide support and guidance in filing of reports, help in coordination, communicating and recommending the expeditious resolutions with the company.
  • Provide an elevated level of support to members with complex safety issues. Coordinate with members and the companies to verify, report, discuss and resolve or disposition of complex safety issues.
  • Prepare member survey safety questions.
9/12/2019 NW Distribution and Disbursement of STEM Funds

It is moved: that the SPEEA NW Council distribute the allocated fund for 2019-2020 SPEEA STEM Grant awards in the following manner:

9/12/2019 NW Form special function committee to review STEM processes

It is moved that: A Special Committee be commissioned to study, formulate, and recommend improvements concerning the Northwest STEM processes, policies and procedures to be presented at the February 2020 meeting to the Northwest Council at which time the committee will cease to exist.

It is moved: THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS BE SUMITTED TO THE APPLICATIONS FOR THE EXECUTIVE OFFICER POSITIONS AND THEIR RESPONSES BE INCLUDED IN THE VOTERS GUIDE.

  1. How has your experience as a SPEEA activist prepared you for this position?
  2. How have you used previous leadership positions in SPEEA to benefit our members?
  3. How would you use the executive officer position for the benefit of SPEEA members?
  4. How would you use the executive officer position to increase activism among our members?
